“AI for Beginners” Guide

My user guides clarify emerging technologies and anticipate the kinds of questions users may have. In “AI for Beginners,” I wrote a guide that:

• explains AI to instructors and what it means for their classes;

• simplifies a new concept that can be daunting; and

• covers introductory concepts in generative AI, as shown in this example.

  “Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a technology that you can input requests and it will output a product similar to what a human would have produced. Generative AI technologies have been trained on massive amounts of previous human work and can create a product in a few seconds. You may have heard of students using ChatGPT (one of the more popular generative ai technologies) to produce a multipage paper in an instant. 

  This new technology can be beneficial used in the right circumstances. It is already being deployed in many industries and it will be important that you and your students are aware of the potential and limitations of using generative AI.”
